NEW GLASGOW, NS – It just got a little easier to enjoy recreation in Pictou County.
Local municipal unit recreation and active living departments have come together to create a recreation link that will direct people to a website for free equipment loans.
Clare Steele, Active Living Coordinator for the Municipality of the County of Pictou, said people will be able to see what each municipal unit can lend. They can also disconnect equipment on the site by filling out the form.
People all over Pictou County can receive equipment from any municipal unit. For example, if someone lives in River John, they can borrow a bicycle in New Glasgow. Chalet tenants can also access the site and borrow equipment.
The equipment is loaned for a few days according to the schedule of the municipal unit. During the winter months, the equipment loan program will include skis and snowshoes.
The site was developed with the financial support of Nova Scotia Ministry of Communities, Culture and Heritage as well as local community health boards.
People looking for new places with used leisure equipment should check out the website Highland Connection. It is a good guide to all the indoor and outdoor recreation available in this region and province. https://highlandconnect.cioc.ca/
